The ideal tee shot on this tough opening hole is to the left centre of the fairway. The bunker on the right side of the fairway is to be avoided at all costs. The green is well bunkered in the front, and dependent on the pin position a medium iron shot is required for your approach.
Most will hit a club from the tee that takes the fairway bunkers out of play. Players will be left with a mid-to-short-iron to a green that slopes sharply from back to front and with some potentially wicked pin placements. Distance control with the approach is vital to ensure a reasonably flat putt. It is important to hit the first fairway and it might be wise to take a 3 wood.Gary Player
