Laurie Canter

“I just try to keep improving. If you focus on that every day, the results look after themselves.”

Laurie Canter has fond memories of South Africa.

He won the South African Amateur Championship in 2010 after working at the nine-hole golf course near his home to earn money for the trip.

Canter turned professional in 2011and has won twice on the DP World Tour, including this year in the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship.

He finished seventh on the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai Rankings this past season.

Canter is making his second appearance in the Nedbank Golf Challenge in honour of Gary Player after finishing tied 21st in 2024.

Canter’s links with South Africa stretch even further. His Major championship debut came in the 2010 Open Championship, which was won by Louis Oosthuizen.

He is a lifelong Bath rugby fan.
