Reitan made a spectacular debut in “Africa’s Major” when he won the 2025 Nedbank Golf Challenge in honour of Gary Player.
He returns hoping to become only the eighth player in history to successfully defend his title.
After his incredible triumph at Sun City, Reitan took this form to the PGA TOUR and in May this year claimed his maiden victory in the Truist Championship.
He is the first Norwegian winner of the Nedbank Golf Challenge in honour of Gary Player, adding to his other record for his country as the first Norwegian to ever compete in the US Open which he did as an amateur in 2018.
Raised as a member of one of Norway’s wealthiest families, Reitan sought his future on the golf course rather than in the business world.
He teamed up with countryman and close friend Viktor Hovland to win the 2014 Toyota Junior Golf World Cup and also represented his country in the Eisenhower Trophy and the Junior Ryder Cup.
Reitan’s victory in the 2025 Nedbank Golf Challenge in honour of Gary Player was his second on the DP World Tour that year.
The Norwegian took a five-stroke lead into the final round at Sun City and withstood strong challenges from South Africa’s Jayden Schaper and England’s Dan Bradbury to win by a single stroke on 17 under par with a closing 72.
